Sustainable Citi-electronic

Environmental protection

Our priority is to improve quality of life using innovative lighting technologies. At the same time, we are continuously reducing our environmental footprint. Environmental protection is therefore one of three pillars in our sustainability strategy ‘Sustainable Citi-Electronic’.

Continuous reduction of CO2 emissions

We are always working to reduce our emissions. What does that mean for us specifically?

We are gradually reducing our environmental footprint. A significant success on our journey: since the base year 2020/2021, we were able to reduce our CO2 emissions by an impressive 69 %.

Together with the Zumtobel Group, Citi-Electronic is pursuing the goal of net zero emissions. By joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the Group is committed to following this reduction path in a way that is based on science.

In order to gradually reduce emissions, we are using the internationally recognised GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3) as a guide.

Emissions in the value chain

We distribute our products around the world and we consciously work together with stakeholders who share our sustainability efforts. We ensure compliance with sustainability standards by using an approval process for our suppliers. We promote sustainable procurement practices and the use of even more environmentally friendly technology to reduce emissions along the entire value chain.

Recycling/waste management

In addition to using raw materials in a resource-efficient way, we also focus on a comprehensive approach to waste management. We are continuously working on increasing the recycling rate. The global recycling rate at our production plants is 88%. Detailed waste analysis at all our production locations allow us to better understand and optimise our waste streams in general. Discussions with local waste disposal units and an improved sorting system for waste streams also support our efforts to further increase our recycling rate.
